Uhuru Energy in partnership with Switch Energy Alliance to host a movie screen at UNZA

Uhuru Energy, in partnership with Switch Energy Alliance, is excited to present a special screening of the movie Switch On, aimed at 800 university students from Copperbelt University and the University of Zambia. This initiative is designed to educate, empower, and connect the next generation of leaders by raising awareness about the severe impact of energy poverty on millions across Africa.

Switch On, based on true events, sheds light on the struggles of individuals and communities deprived of basic energy services, highlighting the far-reaching consequences on their daily lives. The screening will serve as a powerful platform to ignite awareness about the root causes and effects of energy poverty while showcasing the efforts being made to tackle this critical issue.

In addition to the film, the event will feature panel discussions aimed at fostering dialogue on potential solutions to energy poverty. By engaging with local organizations and leveraging social media, we aim to create a buzz and inspire African youth to become agents of change, promoting clean and sustainable energy for all.

We are also excited to announce and provide more details about the Switch competition run by Switch Energy Alliance. In this global competition, university students from around the world will compete virtually for $25,000 USD in prize money, offering solutions to one of today’s most pressing issues—global energy poverty.

This event promises to be a catalyst for vital conversations, empowering youth to understand the importance of sustainable energy access and motivating them to take meaningful steps toward creating a brighter energy future for Africa. By equipping students with knowledge, resources, and a platform for action, Uhuru Energy is committed to inspiring the next generation to lead the fight against energy poverty.
